Benefits of single post set and one shipping container:

    • Using a single post and rail set up and one container can be a more cost-effective mounting solution, especially if on-site build space is restricted.
    • Quick and easy to install. No special tools required.
    • Available in welded or Quicklock dome shelter versions.
    • Cooler than using shipping containers as there is increased airflow.
    • Open Access: The open design of post-mounted shelters provides 360-degree access for personnel and equipment, as well as natural ventilation.
    • Can be transported to remote sites more easily, as the components are supplied in kit form.
    • Durable in all weather conditions.
    • The single pole set and shipping container combination still provides ample space for storage.

The 40ft/12m long single post set allows setting up a dome shelter using only one shipping container on the left or right side – it doesn’t really matter which side the shipping container is located.

The post and eaves rail assembly is made from hot-dip galvanised steel and consists of 3 components.

  • Posts: 100x100mm galvanised steel posts with 3600mm x 100mm welded top plate and 250mm x 250mm base plate.
  • Rails: 100×50 RHS eaves beam for a sturdy truss base plate connection.

Component Overview

  • Galvanised steel posts 100mm x 100mm x 3mm thick.
  • 2.6m posts are the same height as a General Purpose shipping container, providing ample headroom under the outer edges of the shelter. 2.9m posts for High Cube shipping containers.
  • A 250mm x 250mm base plate welded to the bottom of the pose contains 4 x 18mm holes, allowing the base plate to be securely anchored to the foundation using threaded rod and rebar cages, DynaBolt™ or ChemSet™ anchors.

Eaves Rail and Top Plate

  • Running along the top of the posts is the galvanised steel eaves rail. 3 metre long sections, 100mm x 50mm x 2mm thick RHS.
  • The eaves rail sits on top of the post, resting on a pre-welded 360mm long top plate on top of the post
  • The eaves rail is securely screwed to the underside of the eaves rail.
  • Each post top plate has 12 holes, 6 on each side of the post. TEK screws are used to attach the top post plate to the eaves rail, forming a secure connection.

Roof Truss Connection Steps

Once the eaves rails are secured to the posts, the base rails and truss tube sleeve adapters can be connected.

Depending on the type of dome shelter, the separate truss sleeve tube plates can be welded into position or the rail and truss tube sleeve adapters can be clamped onto the eaves rail using high-tensile 100mm U Bolts (provided with the kit).

Single row post set and shelter combinations are available in the following sizes:

Note: The dome shelter assembly and PVC cover sold separately.

Post set configuration

In this 40ft shipping container example, there are 5 support posts. We highly recommend sinking concrete piers for each post, at a minimum diameter of 450mm and a depth of 900mm. Refer to your local building codes or engineer for the correct pier depth and steel reinforcement methodology.

See our setup guides for spacing of the support posts.
