Structural Overview

The post and eaves rail assembly is made from Australian sourced structural steel.

• 100 x 100mm SHS post with 360mm x 100mm welded top plate and 250mm x 250mm x 12mm welded base plate.
• 100×50 RHS eaves beam @ 3000mm long.

Detailed Component Overview

• Steel (SHS) posts 2.6m or 2.9m high, 100mm x 100mm x 3mm thick.
• 2.6m high posts are the height of a General Purpose shipping container, providing ample headroom along the side of the shelter. 2.9m high posts are available for High Cube shipping containers
• Base plate has 4 x 18mm holes, providing anchoring points for bolts and threaded bar reinforcing.

Eaves Rail and Top Plate

• Running along the top of the posts is the 3ooomm, 100mm x 50mm x 2mm long steel eaves rail.
• Post top plate has 12 holes, 6 on each side. TEK screws are used to attach the top post plate to the eaves rail. Additional U bolt clamps are supplied.

Roof Truss Connection

Once the eaves rails are connected to the posts, the dome shelter base rails and truss tube sleeve adapters can be connected.
Depending on the type of dome shelter, the truss sleeve tube plates can be welded into position or clamped onto the eaves rail using high-tensile 100mmx120mm U Bolt and top plate assembly. Find out more about the 40x40ft (12x12m) Double Truss Quicklock Industrial Grade Dome here.

Space-Saving Solutions

Post-mounted shelter designs are the perfect solution when ground space is limited, and shipping containers are not an option. 

1. Typically, dome shelters are attached to shipping containers via the top inside edge, outside edge or a combination of both. 
2. Using a post set and eaves rail maximises the use of the available space, because the building envelope width is not restricted by the with of shipping containers. 
3. The choice of shelter widths provides the same undercover area as if it were spaced between 2 shipping containers.
4. This post-mounted solution is ideal for sites where space is limited.

Roof Frame Truss Connection

Once the eaves beams are connected to the posts, the dome shelter base rails and truss tube sleeve adapters can be connected.
Depending on the type of dome shelter, the truss sleeve tube plates can be welded into position or clamped onto the eaves beam using high-tensile 100mm U Bolts and top plate assembly.

1. Traditional container dome shelters are typically attached to the shipping containers via the top rail inside edge, outside edge or a combination of both. 
2. Using a post set means the shelter is not constrained by the additional with of the containers, making maximum use of the undercover space.

The 20ft/6m post set and dome shelter combination provides the same undercover storage area as a two-container-mounted shelter. This makes it an ideal choice for work sites or commercial properties where space is limited.
